What do you regret selling?

I guess many hams sell equipment to fund further equipment purchases.

I don't usually regret selling stuff, but there are a few things that in retrospect, I wish I hadn't sold:

Heathkit HW8. DC receiver, not the best performance but lovely to look at and KISS simplicity, and every contact was a victory. Quite expensive now.

Lionel J36. Best bug I've ever had.

Yaesu FT290R. Few bells and whistles but simple to use and I had many happy hours at a local hill yakking on 2m SSB and CW with a 5 el beam. I have an 817 now which is smaller, does more, and has a cw filter fitted. But it is a current hog and stuffed with menus, and I miss the simplicity of the old FT290R. Usually the CW section of 2m is not exactly crowded and narrow filters are far from essential.

I had a mint FT-817ND with an external ATU (LDG Z-817), also had a narrow CW filter fitted.

I sold the lot for ?350, and promptly regretted doing so even before the money was in my wallet! :o

Also used to own a TenTec 516 Argonaut V, which I traded in along with a mountain of other equipment. I hated the new radio I had obtained, but found that it was too late to get my Argonaut back as it had been sold within an hour or so of me parting with it.

I don't normally sell much equipment, I tend to keep everything until it gets to the stage where it becomes obsolete, then I might strip the item down for parts!

I had a Kenwood TM-255 2m transceiver, that I sold in a trade, and to this day I regret it. Probably I did the right thing, since I wouldn't be using it that much. Still, it was a fine SSB 2m equipment. If I had it today, I would probably expand the gear and try the QO-100 on CW.

Come to think of it, I also regret losing my 'Hear All Continents' T-Twin regenerative receiver.

I plan to build a simple regen to replace it. Why I should want to do this when I have two excellent receivers already (Elecraft K3 and SDRplay SDR) is one of the mysteries of the hobby!

I built the OHR WM-2 QRP wattmeter, and also the NorCal Saint Louis Tuner kits, and really wish I still had them both.  I sold them when $$ was really tight 15 yrs ago and I figured I had to live without my QRP equipment.

The Oak Hills Research 10w wattmeter came with a nice painted case, an easy kit.  The NorCal kits just had unpainted cases, I spent a LOT of time and detail finishing the case before starting the antenna tuner parts in it.  Now THAT one I really regret selling.  It was a T-Match circuit with built-in dummy load, really slick, although I do prefer an L-match  these days.

I also had to sell the TenTec Argo 556 radio, I used that for lots of QRP contests :-(

I like that tuner! Very neat and nicely constructed too.

I used to have a TenTec Argonaut 516, lovely radio, but I foolishly traded it towards another rig. Regretted it ever since.

Those Oak Hills Research QRP Watt-meters I know well. I have a WM-1 version and a WM-2 version, both built and calibrated, and I also have another WM-2 still in kit form! (It came at the right price, too good a bargain to miss out on).

A tuner I've always liked is the Emtech  ZM-2. I keep looking out for one over here in the UK but nothing so far (apart from one that sold for around twice the original asking price!)

If I sold something I used the money to upgrade.  I do kinda wish I still had my 817.  I may get another.

I regret getting rid of my very first rig, the Heathkit HW-16 and its matching HG-10B VFO. It represented my entry into Amateur Radio, it was the second piece of equipment I built (I had built a home brew low power HF transmitter previously to test my skills) and even if it just sat on a shelf today it would have so much nostalgic appeal. Inasmuch as my novice ticket restricted me to relying on crystals, the HG-10B represented my advance from Novice to General so that nostalgia would also be meaningful. Two others come to mind; the Drake TR4-C had what I considered the best crisp audio of any I've ever heard and my Ten-Tech Powermite PM-2 was a lot QRP fun on camping trips. But, my all time favorite receiver was the Collins RC388 the Air Force was generous enough to include at my operator position during my enlistment, Of course, I didn't sell it, but I did have to leave it behind and I do miss it.
