Velleman Morse Decoder

Velleman are a popular kit selling company that has been around for many years now. These kits are no longet in production, but can be picked up from the usual online auction sites.

Like most of the earlier decoders, these have manual adjustment of frequency, sensitivity, and lock range (bandwidth).

Decode using the inbuilt microphone is surprisingly good after the unit has been adjusted. You can use either AC or DC low voltage supplies for these kits. A number of builders have constructed these decoders in cases of their own choosing, and have used a ribbon cable connection between the display and the base PCB, and also extended the connections for the controls, so as to allow for a better layout.

The decoding ability of these units is pretty good, helped along by the phase locked tone decoder IC no doubt, making it much more resilient to QRM and QRN found on the Shortwave bands.
