Titanic's Radio Installation Recovery!

Looking around the web I noticed this article that says that a court ruling allows salvage operators to cut in to the Titanic and recover radio room items.

The question in my mind is, "Should they?"

I was puzzled about the idea of having to cut in to the vessel though, I remember watching a program showing video footage from one of the explorer subs (actually an ROV), and in that footage the 'explorer' followed the line of a cable hanging down the side of the hull. On the end of it was a Marconi Three Turret Tuner!

So I wonder if the radio room is actually scattered across the sea floor rather than sitting in a neat pile awaiting recovery?

I was wondering too what it would feel like to handle the Morse Key used on that fateful night? Enough to give you goose bumps!

Well, it would give you significant bragging rights in the QSO (RIG HR IS MARCONI SPARK TRX EX-TITANIC OM)

When doing Jamboree on the Air with the scouts we often have a chat about the efficiency of morse, with the Titanic as an example. CQD DE MGY K is only 8 letters, but the message it represents (Mayday this is Royal Mail Ship Titanic, over) is 4.5 times longer, and would take about as long to say in telephony.
