Roger So Far...

Recently I bought Roger So Far... from the RSGB bookshop. It's a large glossy hardback book commemorating the centenary of the Royal Corps of Signals. It's published by the Royal Signals Museum, not the RSGB. I thought it was very good value at the RSGB members price.

It's an excellent book, picture heavy, with a fair bit of technical explanation and useful facts (the range of the Boer war British heliograph set was 40 miles in good conditions, and it lists the evolution of the British phonetic alphabet). There is not a great deal on morse. A lot covers non-radio line communications.

Well worth getting if you are interested in military communications and radio history, but perhaps not if your main interest is just radio and morse.
