Help with TS-520

I have my first solid state radio, the Kenwood TS-520-S. It sits on the desk and gathers dust except when I fire it up for a test or two. It operates great. No problems at all after 10-15 minutes of slight drift. After settling down, it operates just fine. I operate a Kenwood TS-570-S, on PSK 90% of the time and use the HRD suite of programs. Years ago I purchased the MixW program, registered it and operated it for a couple of years. I would like to connect the 520 to the RigExpert box and my other computer. Has anyone out there used the TS-520 wired for any of the PnP intergrated sound cards; I.E. SignaLink, RigExpert, Navigaor or other boxes? If so, would you please respond to this post and discuss the hookups with me. Thanks for the help.

Hiya Rick

Can't comment on some of the devices you mention, but certainly the Tigertronics Signalink USB should work well with the '520.

Most folks we have dealt with in the emporium over here tend to go for the four pin round model SL-USB-4R (the only difference between any of the Signalink units is the cable they supply to fit your rig, all else is the same).

Here's the internal jumper settings for the '520 on the Tigertronics website: http://www.tigertronics.com/sl_wirebm.htm#KENWOOD

You will need to apply an external power source to the Signalink unit since no power is available via the mic socket.

The receive audio can be taken from the speaker out socket on the '520, or, you might be able to use the phone patch out connector on the rear of the rig.
