Hi Guys, I stumbled upon this Ham Radio Forum by accident looking for a way to contact an old ham acquaintance.

So while I'm here I thought I best contribute with a hello post.

I've been licensed some 10+ years now myself and love the hobby more and more every day.

How someone could ever get bored or leave Amateur Radio is totally beyond me.

My Interests are very varied and wide spread. Probably too thinly spread to tell the truth.

ATV, Packet, APRS, WiFi, VoIP (Asterisk), SSB HF, Digital SSB HF (DRM etc), CW, Repeaters, Linux (Sabayon / Gentoo), + more.

Non ham interests, Bare back horse riding, Appaloosa's, table tennis, tennis, Retro Computing (Commodore 64, Vic-20, Apple II, System 80, Amiga, BBC Micro etc), Alternative energy; living; health, Holden Starfire motors, Distilling, Hypnosis.

I'm also part of a group that maintains a ATV repeater site and other services in the area like a Linux server offering VoIP links, web server, packet, WiFi portal + more.

We're always after bits and pieces both hardware wise, information wise, and hands on help wise to help our cause.

Love to hear from you and your interests.

Hiya Ken! :)

Thanks for dropping in and I hope you will come back time and again to our humble site :D

Wow, you certainly have some mixed interests there. I see from your profile that you like Top Band. I wonder what antennas you run for that band?

I've always liked 160m, though my small back garden doesn't really allow me much scope for the type af antennas I would like to set up for that band. My best success so far has been with magnetic loops antennas, made from coax or just plain old wire, and supported by the nearest trees. A bit random in construction but they work really well.

I tend to listen to the CW portions of most bands, and at times you can get some real DX popping up on 160m.

Thanks again for joining Ken, and don't forget to come back from time to time, and bring a few pals too while your at it!

Best 73, Mark.
