I see that you like valve (tube) radios. I agree with you, valved radios do have a warmth about them, so might say they are radios with 'soul'.
I've built a number of valved sets over the years, one I remember in particular was a UHF transmitter that exploded when I shorted out the HT line to the grid of one of the valves!
The flash from the explosion was so bright that I could not see for about twenty minutes, and for nearly three days afterwards I could see a light green area in the middle of my field of vision (I won't make that mistake again!).
Valves (tubes) may look warm and friendly, but they CAN bite too
