Hello from Dave.I have some Philips fm1100 ex pmr radios but due to not having access to a DOS computer with the programming card, does anyone know of a eeprom copying system which will run on a modern pc so that I can copy an eeprom which I have in the fm1100 in my car.I used to work with these radios but the computer in my ex workplace has packed up.There is also a hand held programmer but they are difficult to find on the surplus market.

Hiya Dave

Not sure what eeproms are in your sets there, but you can obtain a number of programmers quite reasonably off ebay.

The handheld ones, by which I'm guessing you mean the DataMan S4 (or similar), tend to command high prices even now.

The one I obtained from ebay is called "Topwin". They come in various guises and with various capabilities. There are some bare PCB programmers, but for a few extra pennies you obtain a really smart looking one with excellent specs.

My particular one is a "Topwin TOP2004", which came complete with cable, software, extractor tool, and a number of adapter boards. The software will run on Win98, Win ME, Win 2000, Win XP. The unit connects via a USB port on your PC.

Here's a link to one currently on ebay: USB Universal EPROM EEPROM FLASH GAL Programmer AVR PIC

There are a number of others on there, the above is just one example. If you take a look at the list of devices the unit can program it's enormous! The units come direct from China, and mine arrived within three days of ordering.

Hope this info helps you out Dave!

Thanks Mark,I will have a look.I did see at one time the actual portable data programmer made by philips for these radios but I haven't seen one again and it was £100. I was involved in a raynet exercise and I saw that if I can make up a cross band repeater it would be useful to link my handheld to the vhf rig in the car.
