Datong D70 Tutor

I was gifted one of these units by a very kind ham and have found it really useful to have sitting on my desk in the (home) office.
It's been modded to send a continuous stream of CW rather than just 5 character groups, but the ability to send the characters at a specific speed but have longer gaps that are adjustable on the fly between characters is really useful if you happen to be learning or improving using the Koch method.

The fact that you can also plug a straight key into it and use it as a practice oscillator is also useful.

They pop up on online forums and auction houses from time to time and it's worth picking one up if you can.

Something you can do with these when first learning to send is you can 'echo' the tutor. You will need a separate side tone oscillator or practice oscillator.

Have the tutor running at whatever character speed you want to emulate, but set the delay at say two seconds. Simply listen to what the tutor sends and then repeat it in the two second gap before the next character is sent. A kind of reverse Koch method :D
