Hi Mark,
I wish I could use that excuse, I messed up the through hole bits... bh bh bh bh bh
I've looked at the hot air rework stations but just wouldn't use it enough to make it viable, so in the meantime I destroy things one board at a time.

It's simply a choice, being able to send on a straight key is a skill I wanted to develop, and straight keys can often be simpler, and easier to jury rig should the need arise.
I've also heard that it is easier to go from straight key to paddles than the other way round, although there are...
I'll need to have another look at the MFJ one. Thanks for the reminder about that one.
On the Begali keys, either the Expedition or Magnetic Traveller keys which are of a size to be able to use them portable, start at ?250 + shipping, with additional upgrades offered for bases etc at further...
I have found that using a straight key means I do not tend to send faster than I can copy (which is not fast). I like the Kent Two I have and do try to practice with it, but the Kent KT1 and the small Belgian Military key I have get used more.
Personally I find that I get a better rhythm on the...
Hi Mark, sorry for taking so long to get back to you.
Unfortunately, it didn't. I messed up big time with the iron temp and managed to completely mess up some of the tracks and pads, they lifted off the board completely.
Not my finest hour with a soldering iron I'm afraid. It might be fixable...
Hi Craig,
Yeah, it's the metal base one I have, after replacing the contact I've had no more issues, and it's solid enough to let my kids use it when they want to "Morse" with a practice oscillator.
The Kent Two sits on my desk as my main key.
Hi Glenn,
I've had a few more QSOs but not many. Work has been extremely busy and I've not had a whole lot of time to play radio unfortunately. Of course this means that the Morse has somewhat leaked out of my brain for a large part, but I've just started to listen to code at various speeds...
Nice, that's a great deal for $20!
I want to get one of the smaller form factor versions of the QCX+, the QCX-mini. I reckon it would be perfect for putting into a small pouch with a 3 cell LiIon battery for impromptu activations.
I'm not sure how handy you are with a soldering iron and general fettling, but I suspect you'd be ok having built a QCX.
If you have access to a 3d printer, I can send you the STL for the tray and you can print one to mess about with.
If you don't have access, I'll print you one and send it out...
I made 2 of them as I had 2 of the BMS boards, not quite mass production yet :D
I've found it works well on the KX2 (which is why one was included when the KX2 was offered for sale as Mark noticed) and the ability to take a second set of fully charged cells to swap out in the field is a real...
